Snooker Poetry
Snooker poetry and writing snooker poems is new to me. However, as a kid I grew up loving mum’s Friday night homemade beefburgers, together with a family watch of BBC2’s ‘Pot Black’. Why the broadcasting powers that be back then televised this sole TV snooker show at 9pm I’ll never know. From memory, no one swore and everyone wore clothes.
Over the years, words have grown to mean more and more to me. And so, when by chance I thought about the concept for this snooker poem, I was unable to let it go. The notion took no time but the completed piece consumed weeks.
As a piece of snooker poetry, I hope ‘Reincarnation’ resonates. Please share thoughts and feedback. Validation or otherwise is a critical guide towards improvement.
Reincarnation
Lean me t’ward the table stage
Game actors of the round
Who on cue p’form a role and roll
From baize to underground
‘She got me’ sighs a shiny rose
Pass’n away, from view
‘The angel slays’, cries Mr Black
Now he’s a goner too
But b’fore another kiss completes
Gloved kiss of life re-berths
The orb precise upon its spot
Moved from heav’n to earth
But leaden flats lie, deceive
Cue spectacle, a storm
Hurricane fires, pockets fill
Rainbow rows forlorn
Yet rounded lives recycle new
Reframed on stages green
Cue chalk chats, cushions calm
The Crucible serene.
Please leave any feedback and thoughts as it’s always good to learn what others think.

Whilst I have never worked as creative artist, writing has always been at the heart of the businesses I have started and run. As a result, I have become fascinated with words and how they can be allowed to dance together.
